A. How Energy is Used.\\r\\nThe Taoist sages looked at their own energy as a total unit. In one\\r\\nday for instance, a young and healthy person earns 100 percent of\\r\\nhis required energy from eating, resting, and exercise, and spends\\r\\napproximately 60 to 70 percent maintaining his daily life: working,\\r\\neating, digesting, breathing, walking, etc. One might consider 100\\r\\npercent energy as 100 energy credits, similar to bank credit. But,\\r\\nas he ages, he gradually earns less and less, even though his\\r\\nbody requires the same expenditures, and he starts to overdraw\\r\\nhis account by drawing energy from the vital organs-the kidneys,\\r\\nliver spleen, lungs, heart, pancreas and glands and, finally, from\\r\\nthe brain.\\r\\nTaoism explains that the major way men lose energy is through\\r\\nejaculation, while women’s major loss of energy occurs through\\r\\nmenstruation, and not through sexual intercourse. For a young,\\r\\nhealthy woman, this means an additional energy expenditure as\\r\\nshe carries on her daily business. Assuming that a woman starts\\r\\nhaving periods at age twelve and continues through menopause in\\r\\nher fifties, she could have as many as 300 to 500 menstrual periods\\r\\nin her lifetime. Each month the ovaries produce an egg that contains\\r\\nhighly perfected creative energy. A great deal of energy also goes\\r\\ninto creating necessary hormones as well as the uterine lining,\\r\\nwhich provides a nest for a fertilized egg. If we consider our\\r\\ntremendous population today we cannot afford many children, but\\r\\nwe can afford one or two. This means we use only one or two\\r\\neggs. The remaining 300 to 500 highly charged eggs are eliminated.\\r\\nThis expenditure accounts for 30 to 40 percent of a woman’s daily\\r\\nenergy allotment. If this sexual energy is continually permitted to\\r\\npour outward, she loses 30 to 40 percent of her life-force energy.\\r\\nHowever: there is a way to transform this energy into vital energy\\r\\nfor the organs, glands, brain, bone marrow and into spiritual energy
