My girlfriend and I neither of us have jobs! Therefore, we have been entrepreneurs for quite a while. I do remember that, one day we spent a real long time together three days in a row without going out the house! It reaches a point where my iPhone was ringing and just for fun my girlfriend said, “I think you should get dressed cause your boss is calling” and I was like, “I don’t have a boss” and she was like, “why don’t you get one” and I’m like, “I don’t have a job” and she was like, “Maybe you should get a job, because I hate seeing you sleeping besides me all day long”. While for most of people conversions like these are stressful, for us this conversion was a playful one. Since then, it’s a running joke for one of us to say to the other, this is why one day for no reason she pissed me off! Therefore, for no reason I returned the joke by saying “don’t you think it’s now a time you should go out and got yourself a job? She smiled and said, “Wow. I have been unemployed for a really long time now. That’s weird…but I like it!”

I don’t want to have a boss

It’s funny that when people reach a certain age, such as after graduating college, they assume it’s time to go out and get a job. However, like many things the masses do, just because everyone does it doesn’t mean it’s a good idea. The main reason why I manage to live without a job is that, I have learned to identify and solve people’s problems in exchange of money. In addition, if you are asking yourself how are you going to live without a job; that is your answer! The reason why most people think they cannot live without a job is that, they don’t fully understand that, the world is filled with people who have—and unfortunately, people who cause—problems. One of the best ways to separate yourself from the masses who they think they can’t live without a job is to establish yourself as someone who makes situations better, not worse— And therefore, it is that simple, if you want to be successful, become a problem solver—and that should be your job title—a problem solver. In fact, if you’re reasonably intelligent, getting a job is one of the worst things you can do to support yourself. There are far better ways to make a living than selling yourself into indentured servitude. This is why I don’t want to have a boss and if you are an employee I’m sorry to say that, being an employee is the worst business idea ever.

The biggest difference between a job and a business

The biggest difference between holding down a job and having your own business is the fact that most business owners aren’t in it just for the money. If you go to the same job from 9 to 5, five days a week, you quickly begin to realize that you are just going there for the money it brings. When you own your own business, you are normally in it because, it is something you love and want to work hard to be successful at. For me, this is the major difference between having a job and creating a business that you love.

It’s just a choice that you make for yourself

Most people are willing to get a job and have a boss even if it does drastically lower their standard of living, make them unhappy and without control of their life. The reason why they are willing to have a boss is that they want what comes with it. Moreover, it is not a secret—steady stream of income, primarily. Many, many people work solely as a means of putting food on the table.  What most people don’t know is that, work should be a source of pleasure and fulfillment and not a source of income. For most of people, work is not a source of pleasure and fulfillment but a source of income, and that makes them slaves into cages they don’t even realize they exist. The main reason I was able to sleep with my girlfriend three days in a row without getting out of the house is because, I don’t sell my time, I sell value to the marketplace. This is why while for most of people work is not a source of pleasure and fulfillment but a source of income, to me it is the other way around. And that is the difference. Moreover, it is this different way of thinking that I real want to introduce to you. Well, I’m not here to force you quit your job right now but, if to your work is not primarily a source of pleasure and fulfillment but just a source of income, my word of advice to you is that, it’s just a choice that you have made for yourself.

A well-fed slave or hungry free man

I hate when People say you “should play it safe rather than taking risks!”. It is sad that they are discouraging brilliant people like you to start your own business by promising a high end pay check, of which if you start your own business, as long as you are so creative and working smart and not working hard, you can get much more than you can handle. There is a quote I like, which goes “To guarantee success, act as if it were impossible to fail”. Faith breaks mountains, this is why in my opinion, the life of a business owner is about enjoying the fruits of smart work, it is about faith, focus, determination, self-sacrifice and smart work. If you are dreaming it then go for it, do not be faint-hearted. In other words, in order to be a success in business, you need to reach at a point of no return. It is a point of no return because; you only have two choices in your life, to be a “well fed slave or hungry free man”. To explain it more I would say, be a “well fed slave” which means work till you retire and wait for your pension enjoy your retirement Sadly as you wait for your last day or be a “hungry free man” which means, Struggle for some time, set your business, get the well fed slaves for your business let them work for you as you enjoy your success as a well fed free man. My friend Choose one a well fed slave or hungry free man!

It is time to go into business for yourself

Till now, if you are still asking yourself “how can I live without a job” I think you need to get clarity around exactly what your choices are, and what trade-offs you’re willing to make in order to have a home or disposable income or whatever it is that you want in your life. Despite the fact that, everyone makes these calculations a little differently for me, it doesn’t matter. What matter is simply that, you make those calculations for instance, yes, companies charge clients more for your work than they pay you and sometimes a lot more. Therefore, if you can do a job, someone else is getting big checks, and you get what is decided for you, you have the option of trying to go into business for yourself. In addition, if you don’t take that option to go into business for yourself, I wonder if you real have realistic expectations, at least in some respects.

***Don’t switch jobs; start your own business ***

My advice to everyone I meet is don’t switch jobs; start your own business. But first, to make sure you don’t revert back to being an employee you will have to know and understand how Power, Control, Leverage, Productivity, Money and Freedom can work against you when you are an employee. This is why the rest of this book will concentrate of me introducing you to these six concepts, what are they, why they are important, and most importantly how being an employee can make them work against you and probably sabotages your level of success in business and life in general.  It is my belief that, when you are fully aware of how these core concepts can work against you when you are an employee, then just like me, you might change your perspective and start your own business. And that is what this book is all about.
